FEMINISM VS. SOCIAL MEDIA FEMINISTS

Feminism, feminism, feminism! I think it’s high time we define the real meaning of ‘feminism’. Feminism is basically the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. The ‘social media’ feminists have turned this into another absurd course – misandry. Misandry is the hatred of or prejudice against men or boys. Everyone now wants to be a “feminist” but a good percentage of them have little to no knowledge of the course they are fighting for.

All of a sudden, the ‘real feminist’ fight for a woman’s right has turned to a ‘fake feminist’ fight against men. Why? You can’t call it illiteracy because most of these ‘fake femnists' are educated, so what exactly shall we say is it’s root? Ignorance! These so called feminists have waged an imaginary war against men and for what exactly? To prove a point? To be noticed? Or just to have the title 'feminist' attached to their names?

Dear ‘fake feminists’ A.K.A misandrist, gender equality no doubt is something that needs to be fixed and there are various ways of going about this course however, feminism does not disregard the male gender as a way of ‘highlighting’ the female gender. As a matter of fact, it’s main goal in general is to bring about gender equality by highlighting and not underplaying the prowess of both genders. For example, a man/woman who occupy the same position should be paid equal salaries regardless. A man/woman who have the qualifications for carrying out a contract should both be considered in the same vain. A man/woman should be allowed to run for ALL political positions. A man/woman should be allowed to go to school as this should not be limited to one gender etc.

Side note: Men can be feminists too.

So you see, feminists fight for equal rights, they don’t fight men. Before you decide to become an advocate of feminism, do your research, understand what this great course is really all about then go about it the right way. We are all humans, so tread carefully.

In summary…. It’s really about equality, not superiority.

  1. Is there a difference between feminism and egalitarianism ?

I once heard a woman rebuke someone for refusing to be termed a feminist

  2. Yes, there's a slight difference but both are leading to the same course. While egalitarianism says everyone is equal and deserve equal right, Feminism has identified the problem of women being seen as the weaker gender and not given equal opportunities thereby fighting for equality for them. At the end of the day, both want equal rights.
